The Neighbourhood Feed Archives for August 2011

Creative sessions

This week's lunchtime creative session focussed on a bit of a 'share and show' of some of the things that inspire each of us creatively, things we like, or things we've done away from the studio.

A truly eclectic and wonderful mix of things ensued, including record sleeves, amazing wall painting, the 'shock of the new' from Little Richard, pencil line art, sculptures, light installations, patterns, photoshop animation and photo-documentaries.

Kickstarter

Here at The Neighbourhood we think that there are few greater feelings than seeing an idea realised. But having a great idea often isn't the issue - there's plenty of great ideas the world over. To quote Thomas Edison and one of our favourite sites over at The 99 Percent - 'Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration' - it's 'making things happen' which can often be where so many ideas stay as just that - ideas.

How great to see Kickstarter really flourishing now - to crowd-source funding, and link ideas with imaginative people, and the funding required to make them happen.

Our team have backed a couple of projects recently, including Design & Thinking – A Documentary  and this iPod Watch

A great example of neighbourhood thinking, we say!

Stockport College

We have been working a lot of late with the lovely people over at Stockport College, and have been hugely encouraged by the passion, talent and dedication of both the students and the tutors.

From running live briefs to offering work experience, we have been mightily impressed by the quality of thought and execution, and enjoying helping to nurture the next generation of talent.

The latest addition to our arsenal of ninja animators is recent graduate Steve Swanborough who caught our eye with his film title sequence final project, and its accompanying live shadow theatre sculpture.

Welcome Steve.
