Alex’s Pixar-style animation

Here at the Neighbourhood, we encourage our Hoodies to go beyond their client briefs and job descriptions, to explore their curiosity and never stop learning. So when one of us is working on something interesting, we think it’s right we share it with the world.

3D Artist Alex is busy creating a Pixar-style animation, set in a child’s playroom and starring ‘Walkman’, a superhero toy that uses sound as a weapon. It’s a reboot of an animation he created at university, but this time he’s using his professional development budget to learn a whole bunch of new skills and software to take it to the next level.

As Alex is creating the modelling, animation and rigging entirely from scratch, the final film won’t have its world premiere for a little while yet. However, he kindly let us have a sneak peek at some of the stills.

And if you’re craving something to watch, Alex was inspired by Pixar shorts Presto and Lifted, as well as this incredible ad.
